Woody Allen is quoted for saying " Eighty percent of success is showing up."
That Saturday evening I look at my bank account and had exactly the amount to reserve the kitchen to pull off day two of the pop up. In that moment I felt I was being challenged on my prior blog about having some skin in the game. (insert eye roll) And there was this question in my spirit "how bad do you want it?" Which made me ponder, do I only want it when others can see it, when the people know about it? Or am I wiling to show up for myself when there is no one to serve?
In business and life we have to constantly check our motives. Are we doing something for money, for a desired outcome and will the results dictate our attitude.
Character is the real foundation of all worthwhile success.
Diligence, endurance, patience those are the things that builds your character.
A farmer can't plant seeds, water it and turn around in 24 hours looking at the ground, asking why hasn't it sprouted yet! We would call them insane. Yet far too often we expect quick, easy, high yielding results that cause minimum stress and absolutely zero inconvenience.
Plants have to take root and begin growth underground before sprouting. So just relax, keep showing up with the same expectant appreciative attitude when no customers come in, as on Sunday, to when the line is wrapped around the building.
